Paper, Scissors, Play is a Sydney based Paediatric Occupational Therapy service.

We offer assessment and therapy services for children aged 2-14 years.

Our mobile therapy services provide Occupational Therapy within the Sutherland Shire, St George and South West Sydney regions. We provide therapy services in your home, preschool, school and community settings.

Our aim is to support children and their families to sour above their challenges to achieve their goals!

Who Do We Support

Ashleigh has a deep passion for working with children on the Autism Spectrum. She has specialised for the past nine years in her clinical work supporting children on all levels of the Autism spectrum, understanding, learning and training to provide evidence-based therapy services.

She also has extensive experience working with children with a wide variety of diagnoses including:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD levels 1-3).

  • Sensory Processing Disorder

  • Developmental Delays

  • Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD)

  • Learning difficulties

  • Speech and Language delays

  • Down’s Syndrome

  • ADD & ADHD

  • Feeding challenges

  • Toileting challenges

  • Social skills difficulties

  • Challenging behaviours (e.g Oppositional Defiance Disorder).

    • Inconsistent use of their dominant hand

    • Oversensitivity to noises (e.g vacuum cleaners, lawnmowers, hairdryers).

    • Avoidance of grooming tasks (e.g nail cutting, hair washing & brushing, teeth brushing).

    • Oversensitivity to being touched by others (e.g dislike of lining up for class, sitting close to others at group time, hugs from loved ones).

    • Chewing on clothing

    • Avoidance of messy play tasks (e.g painting).

    • Prefers solitary & or repetitive play (e.g spinning wheels of a car).

    • Challenges with turn taking & sharing

    • Difficulties engaging in relationships with others (e.g limited eye contact).

    • Challenges with knowing appropriate personal space (e.g too close or too far away).

    • Difficultly forming and maintaining friendships

    • Challenges with interpreting others social cues (e.g facial expressions of others).

    • Frequent meltdowns

    • Poor frustration tolerance (e.g making a mistake).

    • Demonstrates poor impulse control

    • Difficulties accessing the community (e.g limited safety awareness).

    • Easily distractable (e.g difficulties following multiple instructions).

    • Difficulties completing academic tasks

    • Challenges sitting still during group time (e.g preschool, school).

    • Delays in milestones (e.g crawling, walking, running, ball skills & jumping).

    • Avoidance of sports and gross motor tasks (e.g riding a bike).

    • Clumsiness

    • Difficulty maintaining good posture & sitting positions for academic and group-based tasks (e.g circle time at Preschool).

    • Problems in reading, spelling and handwriting

    • Trouble copying from the board

    • Difficulty completing matching and memory games

    • Difficulties with self care tasks (e.g dressing).
